Rachel Oliver

Managing Attorney

Bio

Rachel Oliver is an experienced trial attorney with experience seeking post-conviction relief on behalf of clients and sealing prior criminal convictions to improve the quality of life for individuals. Ms. Oliver is the managing attorney of the Law Offices of Rachel A. Oliver, L.L.C. Ms. Oliver graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She received the highest grade in her class honors for both criminal law and evidence. She served as a research assistant during law school for Professor Marceau where she researched issues surrounding post-conviction claims for relief pursuant to USC § 2254. During Law School, Ms. Oliver also served as a staff editor on the University of Denver Law Review-Journal.

Ms. Oliver has committed her practice to represent individuals facing the loss of liberty due to criminal charges. Ms. Oliver served as an intern with the Appellate Division and in the Brighton Trial Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. Ms. Oliver went on to represent thousands of clients in the Golden office of the Colorado State Public Defender. She has represented individuals charged with a multitude of offenses including minor traffic offenses, driving under the influence, and all the way up to felony theft, violations of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act, homicide, and sexual assaults.

Ms. Oliver transitioned to private practice in 2018 where she has continued to represent individuals charged with all levels of criminal offenses, Additionally, Ms. Oliver has represented clients seeking relief pursuant to Crim. P. R. 35(c) based on new evidence or ineffective assistance of counsel claims in cases that resolved in pleas and in cases where the defendant was convicted at trial. Ms. Oliver has also assisted individuals in reclaiming their lives through sealing prior felony convictions that have hampered efforts to obtain employment or housing.

Ms. Oliver brings a holistic approach to her practice and believes it’s important to not only understand all aspects of the law and trial practice but also to obtain a full understanding of her client’s personal history and the possible collateral impact a criminal conviction might have on the individual client. She understands the importance of having an advocate fully explain the process and provide support along the way during what is certainly one of the most stressful situations an individual endures.
